Get Outdoors Georgia provides free samples of Fun Activities in GA State Parks

Image1Yesterday, we attended  Get Outdoors Georgia Day at my number one favorite Georgia State Park, Sweetwater Creek. The event was celebratory, as Governor Deal announced that a new Yurt Camping Village will be available at the park in 2015! I’m super excited about spending the night at this fantastic place that I’ve been visiting regular for over 20 years.

The free event showcased many of the outdoor recreation opportunities made available through various Georgia State Parks! Visitors were able to try their hands at kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, shooting & archery, geocaching, tree climbing and get more information about how to start Geocaching & caring for our natural heritage by following the Leave No Trace Guidelines.

I love opportunities like this, that are presented as a way for people to get outside and discover new activities they may never have had the chance to do! Check out this short video with some clips of the fun activities & mark your calendar that there will be a statewide Get Outdoors day coming up, September 27, at a Georgia State Park near you!

    1. The GA State Parks representative was unable to provide an exact date. Maybe they haven’t nailed it down to a specific weekend, yet. But, perhaps if you check GaStateParks.org you can find it marked on the calendar?
