Mythbusting Pirate Lore & Legends in St Augustine Florida – Pirate & Treasure Museum Giveaway

pirate-treasure-museum_001Buried among the shops and eateries of Florida’s Historic Coast, we uncovered a treasure trove of history visiting the Pirate & Treasure Museum. I have no hesitation in saying that this was positively one of the most captivating experiences I’ve had in a history museum. Mythbusting your way through the Pirate & Treasure Museum is definitely among the top things to do in St Augustine.

The high level of hands-on interactivity is perfect for keeping visitors immersed in the pirate theme. Guests are given their own treasure map, engaging them in a historic hunt throughout the detailed atmosphere. We tried our hand at knot-tying on the ship deck, “shooting,” replica cannons, touching a 400-year-old treasure chest, lifting a gold bar and explored the true history of some of the most infamous legends of the pirate world.

The sheer volume of artifacts, maps and information is enough to fill an entire day learning about archaeology, history and famous treasure hunts. The museum invites families & educators to enhance their visit, for free, by downloading the full curriculum of Pirate & Florida History. The printable curriculum includes more than 20 pages of fun educational activity covering geography, history, art, science and more.

Disclosure: I was fortunate enough to receive complimentary admission for my family thanks to St. Augustine and The Pirate & Treasure Museum. But, let me assure you that does not influence my opinion of this experience.
