My boys’ father passed away in 2011. But, that’s not stopping us from celebrating Fathers Day. We’re giving away a Georgia State Parks ParkPass in his honor. A ParkPass will pay for your parking, at any Georgia State Park, for a full year from the date of purchase. If you win, you’ll receive your ParkPass just in time to celebrate the dads in your life with some of these great outdoor adventures! (Enter the giveaway below the article)

Wild Cave Tour – Cloudland Canyon State Park Reservations Required

You will get muddy and wet on this family friendly underground adventure. Our guides will educate you on cave formations, bats, and geology while you have fun getting muddy and wet climbing and crawling your way through a wild cave. $30-$60 plus $5 parking. 706-913-7170.  

Smithgall-Woods Kids Adventure TargetKids Day at the Park – Smithgall Woods More Information
Jun 14, 10am – 2pm
Hands-on exhibits in outdoor sports, recreation and environmental education give kids a chance to learn ways to stay healthy and appreciate the great outdoors. Kids can earn a badge through active participation. Get Outdoors Georgia – Sweetwater Creek State Park More Information
Jun 14, 10am – 3pm
This is where we’ll  be! 
Sample a wide variety of outdoor activities for free, such as archery, kayaking, disc golf, camping demonstrations, golf chipping, fly tying, geocaching, tree climbing, wildlife programs, water and outdoor safety classes, and information booths. ALL parking will be at Lithia Springs High School, with free shuttle. 2520 East County Line Road in Lithia Springs. Read about our experience at a similar event at Smithgall Woods State Park. 

Ask The Naturalist Wilderness Survival Tips – Indian Springs State Park More Information
Jun 15, 12pm – 4pm
In honor of The National Get Outdoors Month. Visit with the Naturalist at the museum. Learn about the basics of surviving in the woods. Also, take a tour if the museum and sample the natural spring water.


First-Time Campers Program
Don’t forget about the awesomeness that is Georgia’s First Time Campers Program! Even if you have no camping gear or experience, you can easily take dad on a camping trip that includes tent, cook stove and more! Check it out.

Bluegrass in the Breezeway – Don Carter State Park More Information

Bluegrass Concert Grass Backwardz – Red Top Mtn State Park More Information

Enjoy a free bluegrass concert every week at the Vaughan Log Cabin behind the Park Office. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and let some sweet, sweet music carry your worries away.

Bluegrass Cane Creek Band Concert – Tugaloo State Park More Information
Jun 14, 8pm – 9:30pm
The Cane Creek Band, a five piece bluegrass band, will be at the park’s Beach Pavilion. This family friendly event is free, but the band will pass a hat for donations.

Full Moon Hikes for Night Owl Dads
Is your dad more active at night? Take him on a Full Moon Hike!

Moonlight Mountain Hike – Panola Mountain State Park More Information
Jun 14, 8pm
Join us for an enchanted evening as we hike to the mountaintop under the moon. We’ll head out just before sunset and enjoy the stroll as the moon begins to rise. Bring flashlights, hiking boots and water. Meet at the nature center 15 minutes before each program. Participants must register and pay in advance. $7 plus $5 parking. 770-389-7801.

Full Moon Suspension Bridge Hike – Tallulah Gorge State Park More Information

Wolf Creek will be stocked with plenty of trout to be tempted by anglers 12 and younger. Prizes will be given to the lucky ticket holders. Introduction to Archery – Hard Labor Creek State Park More Information

Archery has been around for over 1,000 years. Try your skill at shooting a “Bull’s Eye” and learning the basics of this fun outdoor sport. Space is limited, pre-registration required. $10 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

Take Pop to one of these State Parks and paddle a canoe or kayak!

Paddle with PopRanger Led Lake Paddle – Sweetwater Creek State Park More Information

Join us for a ranger-led, peaceful outing on the lake and up Beaver Creek. This trip is for those 16 years or older who can swim or children 6 years or older who can swim and are accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Bait Shop. Father’s Day Paddle – Hard Labor Creek State Park More Information

  3. This is so cool! If I won, I’d love to take my Dad to Sweetwater State Park and go hiking and take pictures. He’s really into photographing nature! 🙂

  4. Would love to take all our kiddos from park to park ~~ haven’t been camping in quite awhile 😉 This year we can! With a grand baby to boot!!

  5. Unfortunately, my dad died when I was 12. I would let my kids spend lots of time with their dad at the parks, though! They love these adventures!
