Junior Ranger Programs in National & State Parks around the South

[section_title title=National Park Jr Rangers]

Southern Summer Bucket ListGood day, friends! I’m here to add some #SouthernSummerFun to the bucket. If this is your first time hearing about the Southern Summer Bucket List, backup and enter the giveaway for Sue Rodman’s book, “100+ Things To Do In Atlanta.” It is a necessity for families looking for frugal fun in and around Atlanta, Georgia.

Today’s entry to the bucket is the Junior Ranger program available at so many National & State Parks.

First, let’s hear from the official NPS about what the Junior Ranger program offers youngsters & their families:

The Junior Ranger program gives kids and families the opportunity to uniquely explore and learn about their national parks. There are currently over 200 Junior Ranger Programs in the National Park Service. In each of these parks, kids interview Rangers, complete games, and answer questions about the park and the National Park Service. At the end of their experience in the park, they are sworn in as Junior Rangers and receive a special certificate and official Junior Ranger badge.

You can find National Park Junior Ranger Programs in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Chickamauga & Chattanooga National MilitaryPark, Kennesaw Mtn National Battlefield Park, Chattahoochee National Recreation Area, Ocmulgee National Monument, Cumberland Island Natl Seashore, Everglades National
Park, and many more. Many programs are tailored specifically to the park and it’s own individual history & environment. Just do a search for your closest National Park & you’ll find info about Junior Ranger Programs on the site.

While we’re on the subject, don’t forget about the National Parks Passport. If you intend to visit multiple National Parks during your lifetime, pick up a passport (or make your own) and stop by visitor centers to use park-specific stamps to mark your passport!
